this is the first chance i’ve had to post since before our trip, which, btw, was super fun. i loved boulder! mountainy, yet urban, relaxed, yet hip! 🙂

this here’s a rock. super, i know. i went for a walk/hike one day up into the flatirons (nearby rocky mountains).

while eric was doing his ‘training’ stuff, i was free to amble about town. mmmmm….nothing like a stop at ben and jerry’s for some dublin mudslide!

we got back from boulder at around midnight and eric’s dad got here for his visit the next morning around 6.30, so it was a busy thanksgiving day. we hit the parade, which eric showed you a pic of, and zipped up to the top of a building to look at the city, and then to our super yummy thanksgiving dinner at counter! it was SOOOO good! my favorite were the last 2 courses (out of 5).

The $100 Xmas Tree

November 27, 2005 - 12:18 am 1 Comment

Candice, my dad, and I (with Jabba tagging along) went to the far-east…side of Long Island to go to a Christmas Tree farm and cut down our own tree. It was very cold, but a fun ride. The trees are a little more expensive than in the fertile open spaces of California. $79 for any self-cut tree, regardless of size plus $20 for the base. The year we picked a silver-tip that measures about 7 feet tall. Pictures of the tree post-decoration to come soon…

Well… I would have thought by now that Candice would have posted some pictures of our recent adventures, but apparently she hasn’t, so here are a few that I picked out:

Candice and I are safe and sound, back at home in New York City. We had absolutely no problems or delays getting from the Denver airport back to Laguardia (which is only about 2 miles from our house.) We flew on Frontier Airlines… I have to admit I usually don’t care much for air travel, but I really liked flying on Frontier. And so much for hectic holiday travel.. I think it’s way too hyped up by the media. There was hardly anybody on the roads in Colorado today. We flew out there on the Sunday before Thanksgiving; we left our house at 7:00am. By 7:15am, we were already through security and sitting in the terminal waiting for our 9 o’clock flight. And for our return flight, the plane we were on wasn’t even full… and there weren’t any delays and everybody seemed to be in a good mood. 🙂

We had an interesting experience for lunch today.. Right behind the hotel where we stayed these past couple days was a Domino’s Pizza joint. The checkout time at our hotel was 12 noon, so we packed up our stuff and wanted to grab something quick for lunch. We headed to the Domino’s, ordered a medium pizza with olives and 2-20oz sodas–and the guy there only charged us 5 bucks! Props to Domino’s in Boulder–that made my day.

This is Subaru-town.

Hello All. This is my first post from Colorado. It’s been a challenging, but productive couple of days here. Candice has had quite a bit of time to run around and check out the sites. I, on the other hand have been stuck in an office all day, but I’ve been learning web production from my company’s team of developers and designers. Boulder is a very beautiful city. It has about 100,000 residents and is about 50 minutes from Denver. Candice and I are flying back to New York Wednesday afternoon (yes, the day before Thanksgiving!!) Oh.. my title. Yeah.. as previous Subaru owners, Candice and I both noticed the uncanny fact that almost 10% of the cars in this town are Subarus–it’s weird. Anyway, it’s been fun. Wish us luck on our way back.. Thursday is the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade and dinner at a vegetarian restaurant in Manhattan for us. Pictures of Boulder to come soon…

we have arrived!

we’re here! we landed in denver at approximately 10.45 am local time. our airline was Frontier, which was a pretty nice airline, btw. low cabin noise is always good. and free muffins, i hate it when they charge you $3 for a muffin. we then took a shuttle from denver to boulder which was a little scarry. the driver was going 85 mph in an econo line van over potholes and around corners. but we made it to the university inn at last. let me just say one thing….i love it here! this is a great place! it’s not what i was expecting. sure there’s the occasional cowboy hat, but there’s more hippies and normal people here in downtown boulder. it’s totally not a normal suburb. for one thing there’s the university right in the middle of town. where we were today, on pearl street, it was like a giant downtown santa rosa. anyhoo…this place is super cute. and there are TONS of subarus! yay! and the cost of living is cheaper, too. 😉 i’ve been looking at real estate prices for this area…pretty low. oh, and we ate lunch at illegal pete’s and grabbed dinner from the wild oats across the street from our hotel.
anyhoo…tomorrow starts eric’s training, the main reason we’re here.
i’ll take and post some pics tomorrow! or at least i will try!
goodnight.

Heads-up on the Holiday Shopping.

November 19, 2005 - 10:19 pm Comments Off on Heads-up on the Holiday Shopping.

So, you’ve waited all year long for the holiday season.. you don’t want to wait until December 20th to buy all of your Christmas presents like you did last year, so you decide to hit the streets on Black Friday to get a head start (like 50 million other people.) Well, everybody knows that the best deals in town come out in the newspaper circulars for companies like CompUSA, Best Buy, Target, etc. Now you don’t even have to wait until Thanksgiving to find out all the best deals. Somebody has compiled all the after-Thanksgiving deals from about 30 major retailers into one very long web page. Check it out:

hum de dum….been a while since we’ve updated. to be honest, not much has happened, which can be a good thing since nothing bad has happened. 🙂 last weekend we were going to go ice skating in bryant park (which is free) but eric didn’t make it to the subway before popping into last stop cafe for pizza and coffee. so we had pizza and coffee. oh, the previous evening we patronized a new italian place that’s 1 block from our front door. it was oh so very tasty. eric and i split a plate of penne garlic and broccoli and then shared a chocolate mousse pie. mmm mmm mmm…. i’m also making lots of headway in my harry potter gryffindor scarf. i’m starting to work feverishly on it since harry potter and the goblet of fire come out this friday. 🙂 i’m so excited i’m giddy. honestly. i start giggling like a 4 year-old when i see the trailers.
on another note, yay for thanksgiving! eric’s dad is coming to visit and we’re going to the thanksgiving day parade (provided i get my sorry butt out of bed to be there at 6). and in stead of cooking dinner, we’re going to go to counter for an all-vegetarian thanksgiving meal. i am very excited. i *love* good food. then we’re going to go to dart’s tree farm on long island out by the hamptons for our christmas tree. hopefully we’ll bring jabba and he can romp around and chase things. maybe we can even squeeze a skate in rockefeller plaza in, too. eventhough bryant park is free, rockefeller plaza has the christmas tree!
ohmagoodness…i feel so dumb today. i had another show of martha stewart lined up today, but i over slept! i had set my alarm for 6 *pm* in stead of 6 *am*. darn those hello kitty clocks!
toodles!
