holiday! celebrate!

May 29, 2007 - 3:23 pm 1 Comment

since we took a holiday……took some time to celebrate…..just one day out of life…..it was…it was so nice!

sorry, enough with the madonna…..

since it was indeed a holiday weekend, that meant fun stuff to do in boulder. eric and i went to the boulder creek festival in boulder (duh) and had quite a bit of fun. eric kept calling it a ‘fair’, but i kept telling him it was a ‘festival’ because there was music and the focus wasn’t on carnival rides or livestock (and, btw, i can’t wait for the boulder county fair!). anyhoo…

the festival followed the boulder creek on both sides and included lots of booths with arts and crafts, free stuff, entertainment, etc. there was a lot to do! although, truth be told, eric and i enjoyed the free stuff the most! man, we made out like fat rats, caching in on all the free organic health food being handed out. there was also live music and lots of tasty food to be had. eric had veggie indian food and i had a mini mozzarella pizza cooked right in front of me in a little portable ‘brick’ oven.

once we were there we wished leia were old enough to come with us. they both would have had fun. there were lots of other pugs there, as well as other friendly doggies (although nothing quite compares to a gaggle of puggies).

i would wax more eloquent, but i’ve spent the last hour resizing photos for the album and that makes me grumpy. 🙂

here’s a clip of our lunch entertainment…she was good…i love singer-songwriter/folk music. (note: the warbliness is due to my camera, not the performer)

and take a look at the small album i added, with pics of the events and our bags of free goodies! plus, there are some nice pictures of eric’s daily commute, the road we took to boulder.

we’re also looking forward to the outdoor films shown in the summer here in boulder. come to think of it, the more time we spend here, the more we like it here! it’s pretty, there’s mountains, there’s fun stuff to do and there’s a wide variety of people! 😀 what more could we ask for? well, besides the ocean….hehe

Dog Breeders Issue Massive Recall Of ’07 Pugs

make sure and look at the photos of the recalled units.

worm poo extravaganza!

May 24, 2007 - 9:06 am Comments Off on worm poo extravaganza!

so for all of you who have a garden or at least 1 potted plant, take a look!

this small company, TerraCycle, makes plant food and fertilizer out of worm poo and in studies it has been shown to out-perform Scotts. they’re also being sued by Scotts, which is a little ridiculous, i think, and they’ve made a website called Sued by Scotts to tell people just how ridiculous it is. so anyhoo…if you don’t like using that miracle gro stuff or other fertilizers that might hurt aminals, go to homedepot or target and buy some super cool worm poo! i think i’m going to today, maybe we’ll have super tomatos!

homemade table

May 21, 2007 - 11:08 am 1 Comment

this morning i finally got around to snapping a few photos of the table i made about a month ago. and did i actually make it? yes. did i make the legs? no. i bought the plain, unfinished, just-turned table legs from an online company, osborne wood. then i bought the lumber from lowes, where i had them cut it to my measurements, bought some hardware, and put it all together and finished it (note: eric was going to seal and stain it, but being the project-control-freak that i am, i did it myself)!

so as you can see, it’s a rustic, counter-height, butcher block leg table! i LOVE it! 😀 even with the absence of chairs, it’s still nice to have somewhere to set grocery bags, etc. but i will admit, we can’t wait to be able to get chairs for it. then the pups won’t haggle for a choice begging position as we eat breakfast on the stairs!

in other news, i planted some tomato plants and flowers yesterday while eric weeded. i hope the plants don’t die! ::fingers crossed:: a bunch of my squash is growing as well as one pumpkin plant. hopefully other stuff will make an appearance soon, summer is almost here!

Stormy Weather

Took this pic the other day… thought it came out pretty well:

Neighborhood Rainbow

Gonna take the pups to the Pug Meetup in Boulder tomorrow, so we’ll have some pics of that soon. Other than that, it’s just the same-ol’, same-ol’ out here in Colorado. In other news, I almost feel like I’m moving back a version after upgrading to WordPress 2.2. Anybody know how to make image thumbnails in this new version…? I kinda like the old version better so far. 🙁

Gonna upgrade to WordPress 2.2 (just released today) so hopefully everything goes smoothly. If you see any weirdness, that’s probably why; leave a comment and let us know. Thanks! 🙂

goings on

May 11, 2007 - 12:18 pm 3 Comments

first, i just wanted to address all those who sent out negative vibes regarding our reel cut mower (aka the little green machine)….it totally rocks! 😛 i just finished my second lawn-mowing and i give it two thumbs and two big toes waaay up! and in other suburban-yard-maintenance news, we got a killer weed-wacker, too.

it’s a cordless, gas-less little grasshog.  i was skeptical at first, but it’s awesome! it came with two 18V rechargeable batteries and they last for a really long time. i just finished and i only used about three-quarters of a battery on our 3 lawns. awesome-o!

anyhoo…eric and i would like to congratulate james and cheryl and kit and jakki on being new homeowners! 😀 good luck! and stock up on 10% off coupons from home depot and lowes.

speaking of huge retail chain stores….both eric and myself are totally jonesing for some ikea and h&m! they’re opening an ikea in salt lake city this month and i just might have to make the 7 hour trip, once we have a few bucks, to buy stuff. our place is still woefully plain, only 1 sofa! and where are you h&m??? my wardrobe is suffering a huuuge loss of style since i left you. maybe a trip to nyc would fix that? we’ll see 😉
