The Daily Show
Well, seeings as it’s now Friday (thank goodness!) it’s seems a little late to be writing about what we did on Wednesday, but it was so fun that I think it might just be worth it. (I had expected Candice to write something about it by now, but we’ve both been very busy lately.) Anyway, without further adieu.. Wednesday:
I ditched work at 4 o’clock on Wednesday (with permission!) I hurried over to Daily Show Studios on 11th Ave and 51st in Manhattan. I met Candice there around 4:45pm and there were already about 200+ people in line. We waited in line until about 6pm until we were finally admitted inside to be part of the studio audience for The Daily Show!! My two word summary: so funny.
Apparently, Jon Stewart had a stomach flu or something, so it took a little longer than usual to start the show, but there was a pretty funny stand-up guy keeping the audience entertained during the waiting period. The set was pretty small–only about 250 seats. It was very intimate–every seat in the house had a great view. I took 3 pictures with my camera, but unfortunately none of them turned out. 🙁 Stomach flu or not, Jon Stewart is just a genuinely funny guy–there’s no way around that. And since Bush had just given his ‘state of the union address’, there was plenty of fresh material to gleen from.
After the show was over, we walk the 3/4 of a mile or so back to the subway and stopped by an empanada restaurant called ‘Empanada Mama’ for a light dinner and a bathroom break. We made our way home around 8–our poor puppy had been alone all day, but he’s he always a very good puppy; he waited until we came home that evening and took him out to go potty (I thought he was going to explode when I took him out he had to go so bad!)
