I finally made it…
…into the new (and only) Trader Joe’s in Manhattan, that is. It just opened last Friday, and although there wasn’t a line out the door this time, the check-out line was still pretty daunting. I was mainly interested to see what kind of stuff they had (i.e. was it similar to the standard California fare) and to check out the prices. I must say I was impressed on both fronts. The selection was really good and the prices were fantastic (especially for Manhattan!) At first I was a little disappointed to see that they didn’t have any vegetarian food in the ‘Mexican’ section, but then I realized that they had sold out competely! Nobody wanted the stinkin’ chicken burritos–there were tons of those left. I think I’m going to wait until the hoop-lah dies down a bit more before I go back again…Â $2.69 for four veggie corndogs–you can’t find deals like that anywhere else in the city (that I know of anyway.)

neat. 🙂 i went to TJ’s today, but the lines wrapped around the inside of the store! way too crazy for buying snacks. the weird thing is their ‘fruit of the vine’ products are sold in a seperate store nearby, as per ny law. no 2 buck chuck for folks yet, though, it’s not open yet.
