fun times
hi hi
yes, as eric mentioned, the photos of our surprise baby shower are indeed up in our gallery. i have yet to retrieve the pics of the weekend from my camera, so there are no pics in this post. 🙁 i’m sorry! i promise to do it SOON! SOON!
our fun weekend started off with a trek out to DIA to pick up amanda on friday afternoon, after another OB appointment. thanks to the wonders of technology, eric was able to work from home, and the car, so he could accompany me on both excursions. after retrieving amanda from the trolly-maze at the airport, we whisked her back to our place, where the puppies greeted her with much barking and enthusiastic tail wagging (think of a moving cinnamon bun). 🙂
the next day we met a very tired james and cheryl at their hotel before popping out for lunch at sunflower in boulder. the masons were fairly exhausted, having arrived at their hotel around 4 that morning, but were good troopers, as was amanda, who was suffering from a touch of elevation sickness. the trip to boulder also included a stop at tee and cakes, where i snagged myself a red velvet cupper (my cuppers are better, their frosting is better), and cheryl got a beverage and a tasty brownie. that evening we played some pretty fun wii games, chilled, and all retired early.
sunday was fun, too. we again opted to chow down in boulder, this time at ruby’s, a diner located in the 29th st. mall. and what trip to the mall would be complete without a little shopping? anyhoo….after shopping we headed home, where the boys had prepared (and decorated, i might add) my surprise shower! how fun! 😀 and the rest of the story you can surmise from the pictures eric uploaded and linked to in his previous post. 😀 it was lots of fun and a big surprise! i was completely happy just being able to see some friends!
on monday eric and i decided that amanda, cheryl, and james needed to see the rocky mountains up close before they left, so we drove up to estes park and walked around a bit, and made a pit stop by the stanley hotel. the trip didn’t last long, mostly due to the fact that lunch was fast approaching, and it was on the chilly and windy side.
unfortunately, monday was also the day we bid farewell to amanda. we hope she had fun! 😀 and thank you ryan for sharing her with us for a little bit! 😀 james and cheryl were able to stick around ’till the next day, when they, too, had to jet off for the airport (in their VERY snazzy rental car…..a prius! i am smitten!).
thanks guys! we really enjoyed your visit, and the fun shower! it was very sweet of them! and thank you to all who were able to tune in!
one other thing to mention….i’ve gotten several requests to clarify what exactly a ‘diaper service’ is. here goes! 😀
for various environmental, health, and moral reasons, eric and i have decided to use cloth diapers. now, normally when you use cloth diapers, the ‘fun stuff’ goes where it belongs (cue potty and the waste management facility), and the diaper itself gets washed. so, to make things even easier, there are diaper services. every week they leave a (cloth) bag on your door with a whole weeks supply of high quality, clean, cloth diapers. at the end of the week you leave out for them a (provided) pail full of smelly, dirty diapers that they take and professionally clean. the diaper service we have registered with, the changing table, is pretty cool. their delivery truck runs on biodiesel, and they offer all sorts of cute diaper covers (the cover that goes over the cloth diaper).
soooo…….on our diaper registry you can purchase us weeks of cloth diaper service, super cute diaper covers, various items needed for cloth diapering such as snappies (the safety pin alternative), natural baby products, and a few ‘seventh generation’ products like wipes and disposables (for traveling). all of which are nicely listed out here, at our registry list. from there you just email or call the company (they are very nice) and tell them what you would like to purchase from our (candice and eric p****’s) registry. 🙂
speaking of diapering, i added some ‘seventh generation’ items to our wishlist.com list, too. bulk items.
PHEW! i hope that cleared things up a bit! 😀 now i’m going to go enjoy the snow we got today!
