cool summer
this has got to be the best summer/spring weather we’ve had since we moved here. it’s been cloudy and cool…my fave! but i’ve probably just jinxed it by saying so…anyhoo….the lovely clouds have been keeping the weekend temps down so we can get out and do stuff without sweltering.
we went up to the rmnp again last weekend for some more stomping fun. we have temporarily turned sour on the trail we were previously on, so we went up to the north side of the park to view the alluvial fan. then we drove to the end of the road and parked in a nice little picnic area where you can have a fire and day camp. we might have to try that out and bring the pups next time. we decided to hike up a closed dirt road for a while, had pbj sammies beside a river (avoiding the fire ants), but turned around at a waterfall head because it was getting cold. once again we made it to the car just in time for a downpour, good timing! 🙂
speaking of the pups, we would love to bring them on our hikes, but they aren’t allowed on trails, plus they’re not really hiking sort of dogs. the elevation might affect them too much, too. it sure gets to us, as well. you have to breath about 1.5 times more it feels like, since there’s such a big difference between 5000 ft and 8500 ft.

nice little vista of endo valley (i think)

this time we brought arthur’s monkey for him to snuggle with in the backpack, and give his head some support when he passes out.

i haven’t mentioned it on here, but we got a new (to us) car back in march. an ’07 mazda5, which we love! it’s SUPER versatile, sporty, and gets great every day gas mileage (27-28). i can’t wait to try camping in it, as all 4 backseats lay completely flat. and don’t call it a van.

the navigator, nice and comfy after a diaper change and some cooler clothes for the trip back home (in the very back of our car…one of the things i like is i can actually walk around inside…all it needs is a gas range and a pop top!)

all smiles
