BfPs 3: Computer Errors

Well, we all know that computers don’t always do what we want or even expect them to do. Sometimes programs and even entire operating systems crash and burn right in the middle of doing something important. Here is my small tribute to software designers and the problems they cause (AND the ways they try to explain these problems to us, the lowly users.) Luckily in the past couple years things have gotten better and operating system stability has improved quite significantly (especially for Windows.) Most of these were taken during the 90s at some point, when Windows 98 was mainstream and could hardly stay running for more than an hour or two without crashing.

(Also, see the video here of Windows crashing when Bill Gates was trying to show it off at a conference. Classic.)

BfPs 2: Pure bliss, pure shower.

::singing:: sail away, sail away, sail away… The year was two-thousand and one–April 10 to be exact. The ‘Kandicru’ (as it were) was still in Canada. Kandicrite (kandicruton?) Cheryl had a project due for her marketing class at CUC (whose web site still looks like it’s 2001. LOL.) Enter James with his mad 3D skillz (with a little voice talent by Wilmer and sound editing by me) and you get:

Pure Bliss (click to open the video in a new window–requires Quicktime.)

Now what exactly is this, you may ask? It’s actually quite cool. It’s an advert for a ‘digital shower temperature control.’ If you look closely under the simulated stream of water, you will see a little control panel with numbers on it for controlling the temperature. I remember we had to shrink the file down so it would fit on one floppy disk to take to class (this was before the days of 2GB USB Thumb drives,) so that’s why it looks so crappy.

Yes, the one, the original. Here it is in all it’s glory, unaldulterated. Yes, there may be people that some of us might not want to see on here (don’t look then.) Yes, there probably are dorky pictures of some of us (including me)–but hey, that was 6 years ago; we were having fun when we made it. The most striking thing about this site for me though, is the link to James’ oooold web site on 2xtreme.net still works (sans images)! (unfortunately, the lawn didn’t make it into 2006.) 🙁

This is a test….

…this is only a test. (sorry.)
