i just took the test to see which sci-fi character i was. aparently i am spock. “a focused advisor whose actions are dictated by almost pure logic, you believe in exploring the fascinating possibilities around you.” oh yeah, that’s me. 😉 forget calling me candice, just call me spock.

weekend fun

the taste of chinatown this last weekend was lots of fun. the weather has been so perfect lately! i absolutely loved the rain and now i am in heaven with the nippy wind! it’s SO much different here in the fall/winter. all the trees are turning colors and the air is nippy so i can wear sweaters and scarves and coats. 🙂 yay! and now for pictures!

here is mott st. where most of the yummy food was.

here’s me eating a sweet bun, very yummy with some sort of meat filling ( i don’t ask questions, i just eat ) it looked all cute and fluffy so i had to try it.

here is eric with some veggie beef noodles.

here’s a shot of the front of fay da. eric got a lemon coffee cake and i got some sort of roll/cake/filled thingy. all very tasty!

i also got the best milk tea tapioca drink i’ve EVER had! 🙂 plus some green tea squishy balls that tasted like nothing and felt, well, i’ll just say ‘silly.’

three cheers for cheap and tasty food!

I had a really nice weekend this week. Yesterday we did the ‘taste of Chinatown’ thing (Candice is supposed to post pictures soon!) Today we stay at home in the morning, then headed out for dinner at a Japanese place (which I didn’t care for too much) and then to Freeze Peach for a Hurricane Relief Benefit that they were sponsoring there. The house was completely packed and I think everybody had a good time while raising money to help people who have been displaced by the recent hurricanes.

All last week it had been raining around here–ok, if you walked 1 mile in the rain get to work in the morning last week, raise your hand. Anybody, anybody? Apparently, in New Hampshire and other places in the Northeast, there was pretty bad flooding, but we didn’t get it that bad around here. Now the weather is starting to cool off (finally!) and people tell us that by mid November or so, there should be some snow. I can’t wait to walk a mile in that… it will be like living in Canada again and taking a stroll to Lacombe.

You can now check us out at our new domain https://www.thezereps.com. Of course, ericperez.com still works, but thezereps is a little more neutral as Candice and I do both share this blog. Either one, it’s your choice.. 🙂

This week went by pretty quickly for me… lots of work kept me pretty busy during the day-time–and things always seem to pass by more quickly when you’re busy
(for me anyway.) We’ve been getting quite a bit of rain over here–which really sucks, especially when you have to walk about 3 miles in it every day. Luckily, it has subsided tonight–there’s still the 90+% humidity to deal with though.

This weekend Candice and I are going to go to China Town. Apparently, there is this thing called Taste of Chinatown going on this weekend where you can sample all sorts of goodies from over 50 restaurants for only one or two dollars. It sound like fun to me. Candice and I have only been to Chinatown once when we visited during one of our spring breaks. And while your at that site, you can try your hand at writing a creative fortune for a fortune cookie and if you win, get it ‘published’ in cookies around the country. 🙂

life in the city..

Boy did I have a fun time getting to work today.. I was pretty tired when I woke up this morning, so I lazed around and took a little longer than usual to get ready. So I was going to be 15 minutes late to work–big deal. I take my usual 1-mile hike to the subway station only to find out that all Manhatten-(where I work)bound trains were suspended due to (choose one:) a fire/signal problems. Whatever the reason, hundreds and hundreds of inconvienienced people, mumbling and grumbling, had to find alternate transportation to work, including me. I had a chance meetup with Samantha, who was also in the same predicament as me. We decided (along with many, many other people) the quickest way to get to Manhatten was to take the bus, then transfer to a train that wasn’t suspended. We stood in a line that went around the block to try to get on a bus. Luckily for us, we were pretty close to the front of the line. I had never taken the bus into Manhatten from Queens, so that was an experience. Eventually, I caught a working train and made it to work.. and was only an hour and 15 minutes late. The joys of public transportation. 😉

new hair!!!

yay! i *finally* got a new haircut, thanks to a very thoughtful gift certificate from my hubby-poo, which was accompanied by flowers, too. 🙂

front

side

yes, i could have just used one pic, but i like it SO MUCH! i don’t think i’ve ever been this happy with my hair before. 🙂 thanks eric! i really like how it is angled up in back to the nape of my neck.

i got it done at SPAce on ditmars blvd. it was really worth it to pay 5 bucks more for a ‘master stylist,’ or whatever they call it. of course it always looks better when they style it with their super-blow dryers. 😉

puppy

and who could forget our little puppy? here he is napping on a pile of pillows like a sultan.

and now i am finishing a bag of chocolate covered raisinettes…yum! maybe i’ll make superpretzels today.

oh, did i mention i got, or will have, tickets to see martha stewart?! 🙂 thanks to lorrie i might be able to go twice!

mmmmmm….

yummm…we just had the yummiest dinner we’ve had in a while! 🙂 in celebration of the delightful change in weather, i decided to make a ‘comfort food’ dinner. i made ‘special k’ loaf (yummy!), ”ol no. 7′ yams (which ended up being ‘wild turkey’ yams), and apple crumble pie. ‘special k’ loaf is a perenial favorite around here and the yams were so delicious that i’m going to make ‘wild turkey’ or ‘no. 7’ yams every time i make candied yams. the apple pie is also a wonderfully delicious and easy and cheap pie. i always use frozen pie crusts since i don’t have the counter space and all i need is apples, sugar, flour, butter and spices and i have a pie :).

we also took a stroll up to ditmars to buy some pumpkins for halloween. spoooooooookie!

A relaxing weekend..

The weather around here is definitely in a state of change. From Friday afternoon and all day Sunday, it’s been raining with the humidity hovering around the 90th-percentile. That wouldn’t have been so bad had it not been around 80 degrees, making for a very muggy situation here in NYC. But just overnight on Saturday, the temperature dropped to about 55 degrees with a high of 65 on Sunday today (thank goodness!) and is supposed to stay that way for the rest of the week.. I think hot weather is a thing of the past from here on out…

Candice and I stayed home most of Saturday since it was raining and all. We ordered a pizza and watched videos at home during the evening. Last week was extremely busy for me at work since I had to move a bunch of servers to our new co-location service provider. I’m glad that’s done now.. no more 12 hour days for me!
