a new day, a new weather system.

Well, today is quite a different day than yesterday. It’s overcast and about 75 degrees out–very nice. Apparently, thousands of people are without power over here in the northeast because of the massive thunderstorms yesterday. We live about 8 blocks from a huge powerplant and so I don’t think we’ll lose power anytime soon, thankfully. But just in case, we have our UPS battery backups, flashlights, and candles ready. Today, now that the storm has passed, we’re going to continue on our trip downtown for some errands–fighting our way through tourists and business people on the streets of Manhatten.

Good idea. When the electricity went out here I was sitting in the dark But I found a flashlight. The only thing was…I wanted to make a phone call. I had not charged my cell phone. All the phones here are on electricity, cordless fancy and all that stuff. but if the electric is out they do not work. So today I went and bought a regular old fashioned phone that does not take power. $7. I also stocked up for lights out. Those dome shaped things are all over the house now. It will look like a Christmas tree even with the electricity off. Is there a Safeway in your town? I ask because they advertise “We deliver” . Love, Mammy
