and it’s warm! all of our snow is melting! which is sort of a good thing since all the snow on our neighborhood roads had packed into 4 inches of ice, but bad for the general appearance of things.

we’ve been in a hibernation mode lately, with eric working on a project in the basement and me crafting or painting. i would show you pictures of eric, but he won’t let me. so here’s a little project that i finished this week. it’s my old sewing desk, which is going to be my new vanity upstairs.

it was a rustic blue, but i painted it dark brown, and then painted a white doily-thing on top. and that is my new, blue sewing machine my mom got me for christmas. 🙂 another project was the recovering of an ottoman/footstool. it looks much better now!

i’ve also been painting lately. ever since i painted our family room/kitchen-area, i haven’t liked it, but now i can’t live with it! it was irritating the h-e-double hockey sticks out of me. so i’m in the process of re-painting it a pale green (pale bamboo to be exact). looks tons better! 😀 also, i’m using a new type of paint. it’s called “harmony” by sherwin-williams. it has zero VOCs and low odor and it’s made with no silica…it’s great! the sale price made it only $5 more than behr (home depot) and it was TOTALLY worth it…..VOCs suck….all paint should be this non-smelly/non-pollutant.

wait….have to blot my eyes….the sarah mclachlan aspca commercial always makes me tear up! if i were a millionaire i’d give all my charitable donations to animal rescue organizations. poor little domesticated animals need somebody to look out for them.

so anyhoo….i had another doctor’s appointment on friday….7 months! hooray! things are fine, i guess! i had my blood glucose test last week…they made me drink this SUPER gross sickly sugary ‘fruit punch’ concoction on an empty stomach, it was disgusting. so now i’m technically in my third trimester…and bulky. and i have to keep buying bigger (maternity) clothes. it’s expensive and really sucks! i’ll also sign up for some classes here pretty soon. i haven’t even seen/been to the hospital here in town yet!

oh, i guess i should mention this….due to distance and other things, i won’t be getting a baby shower, so if you’re a friend or family member (or stranger) who would like to purchase eric and i a baby gift, you can do so at any time via the baby registries on our sidebar. they’re chockfull of things we (desperately) need. 🙂

well, the snow kept falling yesterday, so that meant eric got to do some more snow shoveling!

to be nice to our poor little puppies he shovels trails in the backyard so they can do their business without *too* much stress.

it’s that awkward time of year again, where you feel bad ’cause the best time of the year is over, but it’s not new years yet so you can’t move on. if christmas were a person you’d be wondering if you should call them and say what a nice time you had the other night, but you’re not sure if you want to make the commitment because you’ll be gone in a week, plus it wasn’t the best night you ever had, but you feel like you should say it was anyway.

christmas eve brought the arrival of our new little nephew, ashton. what a cutie…way to go chantel! i’m jealous! 😉

eric and i had a nice time on christmas. leia helped eric open his big present:

then we drove through the snow to see ‘sweeney todd: the demon barber of fleet street‘. completely awesome, btw. 😀 i give it a hearty two thumbs up! a perfect christmas day movie.

after the movie we were going to eat there in boulder, but since it was snowing, decided to get out tushes back to longmont, where we scoured the town for a place to eat. big surprise, the only place open was a chinese restaurant! so we ate there, a tasty but greasy dinner. 🙂

it’s snowing again today, and a lot more than we got on christmas. here’s eric shoveling snow around 7.30 this morning:

we don’t really have any big plans for new years, as usual! 😀 hope everyone had a nice christmas, and thank you to all those who sent us holiday cards! 😀

we celebrated eric’s birthday the other day. we also celebrated our fourth anniversary. this time of year is really kinda crazy so it’s hard to celebrate eric’s birthday away from everybody else’s birthdays, christmas, and our anniversary dinner. (this year eric’s also getting a ‘half birthday’ with no christmas wrapping paper or decorations, and a whole day just about him! i’ll elaborate when the time comes. :D)

our day started with some tasty pastries, compliments of eric’s early-morning trip to safeway. 🙂 for lunch we celebrated our anniversary by going to the cheesecake factory (yum!) then we went to see a movie for eric’s birthday. once we were back home, eric got to enjoy his birthday cake….a vegan cheesecake! 🙂 it was really good! seriously tasty. thanks samantha for the recipe!

so far we’re enjoying our christmas weekend! we’re still hoping for snow on tuesday, too. 🙂

wow! only a week left until christmas! what a bummer! my favorite season is almost over. 🙁 but at least i have a few days of fun ahead of me. 🙂

this weekend was fun. friday night was eric’s annual christmas office dinner (party), and this time it was at the q’s, located inside the boulderado hotel. i met eric on the street corner outside of a parking garage, after having driven through a light snow flurry, and together we trekked on in. (this is a good point to say thank goodness for my new coat! i finally had to purchase a maternity coat, as i had ‘grown out’ of all my others) the restaurant was nice and toasty warm, and the dinner gave us a chance to chat with eric’s co-workers and their significant others. the food was super good, too.

being pregnant, i’m finding that i don’t really have an appetite for some things that i would previously have gobbled down. so, after passing on the deviled egg with caviar, and dinner ceaser salad, i chowed down on a mushroom bisque with truffle sauce, gnocci with winter squash, and the most delicious and tasty bread pudding with figs, caramel sauce, chantilly cream, and vanilla bean ice cream. mmmmmm……..

the rest of the weekend was decidedly not as tasty as friday night, but more productive. eric started spakling the basement, and i painted the spare room. and yup, that took up saturday and sunday. with some things like wii playing thrown in for good measure.

friday is eric’s birthday and our anniversary, and i think he’s going to take it off from work so we can go see a movie (‘i am legend’) and go out to eat (cheesecake factory), both very exciting things for us. 🙂 i’m saving the movie ‘sweeny todd’ for christmas day….i can barely contain myself! 😀

this is from the other night. we still have all that snow, too, since it’s stayed nice and chilly lately. unfortunately the dogs *hate* it when it gets below 20, they’re not big fans of 12 degree potty breaks. can’t say that i blame them.
