New House Pictures!

December 19, 2006 - 9:48 am 3 Comments

OK.. after much delay, here they are… These are from the first three days of us moving in. We don’t have any furniture in the house yet, so it’s a little bare. We shipped about 40 boxes through UPS of our personal belongings from New York, but in a space twice as big as our rental there, we still have tons of room. Here the link to the initial house pictures gallery:

Of course, this is a work in progress, so we’ll post some more once we have the house painted and furnished, etc.

hooray for cars!

oh yes sir…it’s happened….we got ourselves a car!! and not just any car, a 2000 subi outback wagon! i was so excited when we got home that i was jumping around the garage. it’s white outside, with dark gray interior, and only 67k miles. super cute! and it’ll look even cuter with a ski rack on top and bike racks! ohmagosh!

i’ll post pictures of it later. i took a few of it in the garage (we have a garage! ::squeal::) and i’ll post when we get reliable internet. i also did my first load of laundry today! eric and i have never had laundry facilities in apartments we’ve had, so this is the first time i’ve done laundry at my ‘house’ since graduating high school (visits don’t count).

it also took 2 hours to come home from south denver today…who would have thought there was horrible traffic in colorado?!

anyhoo…we hope to get some relaxing done this weekend…we keep getting up at 5.30 in the morning to get stuff done…more later..dindin is calling

Swamped!

December 15, 2006 - 12:36 am Comments Off on Swamped!

Well.. our adventures are far from over… we’ve just been swamped these last couple days.. everything’s just happening all at once. We’re still playing catch up, in more ways than one! We’re still looking for a car.. right now we’re still in the rental. We’re just running around like crazy people–so much stuff is happening all the same time, and our house is completely empty; we don’t even have garbage cans at this point, let alone furniture!
I finally got to see our new house today; Candice did a great job picking it out. More details and pictures to come soon, of course, so stay tuned.

One thing that’s come in handy is a city-wide wireless network in Longmont that’s in beta-testing right now and just ‘released’ this week, so it’s completely free (until 2007!) Hurray for open, free wireless internet!

I’m exhausted right now.. good night!

pictures of our last driving day (until next week)

goodmorning!

we just spent our first night in colorado, albeit at a hotel. but it’s still nice! well, technicallly i was at this exact same hotel last month, but that doesn’t really count since i didn’t have my hubby or my puppy with me.

yesterday was the last leg of our moving-journey, thank goodness! we got a little tired of western kansas. and yeah, once we were accross the state line, we both took turns saying ‘we’re not in kansas anymore, jabba’. 😉 and the rockies were very pretty as we rolled on past denver.

eric said he’s impressed with our new little town of longmont, too. i think he was expecting a little podunk town, but there’s actually TRAFFIC here! hehe 🙂

wel, anyhoo…today my job is to sit around the hotel room with jabba, while eric has the rental at work, but that’s ok! there’s lots to plan!

oh, and here’s a little ‘teaser’ picture from the new album.

Bitchin’ Betty didn’t let us down!

…ya know, the GPS voice ‘guide’ that tells you which direction you need to turn and how far until you need to correct your heading. 😉 (and who also doesn’t shut up, which is why I lovingly named her after the F-16 vocal warning system.)  We relied solely on our trusty GPS system to get us from Point A (New York City) to Point B (Longmont, CO) and it worked flawlessly–we made it everywhere we were trying to go without a hitch. I highly recommend getting one, especially for long road trips!
And so we finally made it! :)  We’re in Longmont right now; unfortunately, our house won’t be ready for us to move in to until Thursday, so it’s another night at the Super 8 for us. 🙁
Our vacation is over.  It seemed to go by pretty quickly. Tomorrow I have to go back to work; but this time I’ll be working from my new office in Boulder, CO. (yay!) Now that we’ve moved we are tasked with finding a car we can afford, exploring the wonders of Colorado and surrounding areas, and populating and decorating our new house. More pictures of today’s trip coming soon (and more house pictures and perhaps a few of our new land of residence.)

Final Day

December 12, 2006 - 8:20 am Comments Off on Final Day

We’re on our final road-trip day now. Last night we stayed at the Super 8 motel in Salina, KS. We’re still about 450 miles or so from our final destination. Unfortunately, we still have to stay in a hotel when we get there because our house wont be ready for us until Thursday. 🙁

I just realized we haven’t really been providing any maps to show where we’ve been or where we’re going, so here’s our trip summarized:
First Day Trek

Second Day Trek
Third Day Trek

Fourth Day Trek
Today’s Journey

Disappointingly for us, there isn’t much to do in the way of touristy items or ‘fun stops’ on I-70. When we drove out to New York last year, we found a lot more things to do as we went along on I-80. The highlight of our day yesterday was seeing a B2 Bomber fly right over our car. In case you missed the picture, it’s here. Unfortunately, it was a overcast, but you can clearly see the unmistakable outline of the B2. (OK, OK.. it’s been a uneventful trip–but it was pretty cool to see it fly by.)

the end of day four!

yes sir…we just settled into our hotel here in Salina, Kansas (rhymes with Carolina). today was a pretty nice drive. we were VERY happy to leave Missouri. speaking of which, i give Indiana and Missouri a thumbs down. bleh…i’ve decided i don’t like the midwest. kansas gets a thumbs up, though! it’s really pretty! but it’s classified as ‘west’, though, so i still don’t like the midwest. 🙂

kansas city was a pretty cool little town, too. we were pleasantly surprised. it had lots of neat old brick buildings and a nice little urban feel, while not being dumpy.

oooh! we also had a little airshow by something that i thought was a UFO at first! there were really low clouds and it was overcast…i looked up into the sky and there was a crazy black flying thing! it was a stealth bomber! how cool is that?! for a second though, i truely felt like scully!

so…yurp! tomorrow is the last day! we should arrive in longmont around 4.30 pm…we don’t get to go to our house until thursday, though, but it’s still exciting. 🙂

this trip has been pretty fun, but there’s not a whole lot to do on i-70. last summer we enjoyed camping out in little KOA cabins along, i-80, but they all close for the winter months. but it’s still been pretty fun. we like life on the road! 😀 can’t wait for more adventures!

here’s the new album!!!
