worst christmas *ever*!

December 26, 2005 - 2:47 pm 2 Comments

just kidding! i just felt like saying that. 🙂 hehe….christmas was nice, don’t worry!

hm….what did we do for christmas eve…..trying to remember…….i think we watched some x-files and then eric fell dead asleep at like 9.30. christmas day was nice, though. we opened our little gift pile under the tree. we would have had no gift pile if it weren’t for cindy, my mom and al, and my grandparents, so thank you 🙂 i got some very nice fuzzy shearling slippers (with memory foam padding) from my mom ’cause my feet always hurt. eric got some fun stuff, like a chia herb garden from me :), and some stuff off of his list from various parties. we ate yummy candy from my grandparents (thank you!) and they included jabba, too, with a nice bag of doggie treats, which he loves.

we watched ‘a christmas story’ over lunch and then went to see ‘king kong’ in the evening. unfortunatly, after trudging a mile in the pouring rain and cold, ‘king kong’ was sold out. so i was thus able to see ‘the family stone’ with eric, as opposed to by myself. 😉 i liked it and teared up in a couple spots. eric thought it was okay for what he calls ‘a formula movie’. i didn’t think it would be so sad, though, but it made for a better, more rounded, more true-to-life story, at least i thought so.

for christmas dinner we stopped by a chinese take-out place to grab dinner on our trudge home, through the rain again. it was yummy! i rate it two chopsticks up!

here’s some picture highlights of the last couple days.

this here is what christmas eve looked like at our place. hehe…

oh! this morning was also my first training day at my new job. 🙂 finally! a job! it’s part-time in the mornings at freezepeach cafe (link on right side of page). i’m a barista-in-training all this week and you can check their webcams to see me from 8 am to 12 pm. since today was my first day, i’m still very confused when it comes to making coffee, frothing milk, using the register, and keeping track of orders, but i hope that i’ll get better eventually. it’s just nice to have a job. and it’s not an uptight office job! yay! 🙂

okay okay :)

eric’s birthday

December 22, 2005 - 10:53 am 1 Comment

as eric already mentioned, yesterday was his birthday and our anniversary. lucky for eric the transit strike was still going on so he could spend it at home, even if he was working. i made him a birthday breakfast of waffles with strawberries and whipped cream and blueberry muffins. he said he liked it. 🙂 then he finally got to open his birthday presents, which he’d been pestering me about for several days. (he wanted to open them all the night before, he even made me stay up to midnight, his birthday, to open one early) my mom had gotten him a zero blaster, which shoots rings of fog. it was really cool and jabba loved it! 🙂 in the afternoon i made him a birthday carrot cake, which he also admited to liking. 🙂

here’s eric with his fog blaster, which has a handy blue LED light at the end and super cool ray gun sound effects.

as soon as eric started shooting rings, jabba kept trying to eat them. this is an action shot and you can’t quite see the ring, but it’s there and jabba ate it!

here’s eric’s carrot cake. it was pretty tasty, even to me and i hate carrot cakes. go foodnetwork.com!

and last of all, here’s jabba, laying on a pile of eric’s clean socks. he LOVES to lay on socks. is it just me, or does jabba look fat in this picture? huh…i swear he’s not! he’s super spry! even the doctor said so! 🙂 just look at that action shot up there!

well. as most of you know, you can reach our little blog here by going to https://www.thezereps.com or http://www.ericperez.com, but now you have a third choice (and why not!) try us at http://www.candiceperez.com. Maybe eventually we’ll put some seperate stuff up on each of the domains, but for now the all point to the same place.

Candice and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary today, while I simultaneously celebrated turning a quarter-century old. Thanks to everybody for the phone calls, emails, etc.

Transit Strike

December 20, 2005 - 12:15 pm 2 Comments

I looks like I’m going to have to stay home today. There is a massive transit strike going on right now between the MTA and the Transit Union. Negotiations did not allow them to come to terms by the strike deadline of midnight last night. I forgot about that this morning (well, for one thing I went to bed before midnight last night) and was walking to the subway station in 25 degree weather when Candice called me and told me that indeed that were striking and the subways and buses were not running. Since my work is about 6 miles away (in Manhattan) there is very small possibility that I could get there in any timely manner–especialy if you consider the 7 million other people I’d have to fight with who are in the same predicament. Luckily for me, my job can be done through telecommuting, so that’s what it looks like I’ll be doing today (and for however long the strike lasts.) I might actually not have to go in to work on my Birthday/Anniversary. Hurrah! 🙂

Birthdaze

Well, it’s that time of year again–yeah, it’s Christmas time/the holiday season too, but that’s not really what I meant. What I was really thinking of is that there are tons of birthdays in December. My dad’s birthday is December 2, today (the 19th) bears special significance for my mom and friend, Kit Kohler. My birthday comes up on the 21st and my sister’s birthday is on the 22nd! Let’s see.. even people that I haven’t talk to in ages have birthdays in this month… Tim Webster is on the 10th I believe; Pamela Guynn on the 17th or 18th, I think; Brook McGuiness (sp?) on the 20th; even, Jessica from Canada had a birthday on the 21st of this month–who incidently is the only person I’ve ever met who was born on the same day as me, December 21, 1980.

No White Christmas.. so far at least.

Another weekend has passed. I wish I had more interesting things to say, but unfortunately all I did was relax at home this weekend for the most part. It warmed up to the 40s this weekend, so just about all of the snow melted, so we’ll see if we get a white Chritmas after all.

We took Jabba to the Vet on Saturday and got his combo distemperment/hepetitus shot and a general check-up. He has an infection in his left ear that we have some medicine for. We have to trick him with crumbled treats in his bowl to get him to sit still long enough for us to put the medicine in his ears–poor guy. On Saturday night we watched Midnight Cowboy.

Candice and I took a stroll to Astoria Park with Jabba today. We had never been before, even though it’s only about 2 miles from our house. It’s amazing how far away places can seem when you don’t have a car and have to make it everywhere by foot. We stopped by Matt & Samantha’s place and chatted with them for a while before making our way back home to watch some TV (and I snuck in a couple games of Half Life 2.) Even though I’ve had that game for over a year, I still have not completed it yet. 🙁
