The Zereps

Shannon and Marc landed safely on Sunday night at Laguardia Airport arount 7pm EST. On Sunday, we slept in, Candice went to work and I headed off with our visitors to downtown Manhattan. We took the subway to the last stop in Manhattan and then walk about a mile and a half to the bottom of the island where we caught the Staten Island Ferry. Shannon wanted to see the Statue of Liberty, but the ferry to Liberty Island costs 12 bucks and the Staten Island ferry is free–and it goes right past Liberty Island. It’s about an hour and a half round trip from Staten Island to our house, so that and walking around Manhatten consisted of most of our adventures yesterday. More to come soon…

…at least in our little digital world. I wish there was real snow here though–it’s definitely cold enough.

Marc and Shannon are coming to visit us today.. actually, they will be here in around 3 hours (7:45pm EST.) You can check the status of their flight here: Flight Status

Hmm.. well over the holiday weekend–Monday sometime after 1am to be exact, apparently the database server of our hosting company had some issues. Then other small weird things started happening, like at one point the weather status plugin stopped working, then the redirectors for our other domains like thezereps.com stopped working. Everything seems to be working fine now though..

Today was the first day after the long New Years weekend that I had to go back to work. I got pretty bored today and was pretty antsy to go home. It rained here today which made the walking part of my hour-long commute to and from work pretty stressful.

Yesterday, I had a pretty relaxing day at home. I cleaned up a bit while Candice was barista-ing at the Freeze Peach Cafe. I devoted a couple hours to Half-Life 2 and finally, after over a year and a month since I got the game, I finally beat it. Now that I have a fancy new video card, I think I’ll be playing a lot more 3D-accelerated games–the next one in line is called F.E.A.R. I bought that and a year’s subscription to ‘Maximum PC‘ magazine with a gift card I got. Thanks Doug and Winn!

Well, it’s the year two-thousand and six now. Does anybody have any good New Year’s resolutions to share? This was the first time since 1994 I believe that Christmas and New Year’s Day ended up falling on Sundays. I’m just glad my company (along with most others) was kind enough to give us Monday the 2nd off from work. Hurray! I have one goal for tomorrow–finish Half-Life 2. I’ve been playing it on and off since November 2004 when it came out and I still haven’t finished it yet! With my new GeForce 6800 Ultra video card it looks very nice and runs quite speedy (thanks mom!)

I made a few little tweaks and changes to the site today–spent a couple hours on them actually, so see if you notice anything that’s new or different. enjoy! 🙂

If you check out the Freezepeach Webcam from 8am-12pm EST (that’s 5am to 9am for you West-coast types) you might catch a glimpse of Candice doing her barista-type duties. 🙂

Hurray! This is my 100th post on our blog. Actually, now that I think about it, that doesn’t seem like very many. It’s been about 6 months since we started this blog, so that averages out to about 1 post every other day, I think.

A new little new thing that I added was an ‘author’ tag under the title of the post so it’s clear who wrote each entry. Now if I can just muster enough time and bravery to upgrade to WordPress 2.0…
