Pumpkin Patch / Allenspark Cabin

November 1, 2008 - 1:17 pm Comments Off on Pumpkin Patch / Allenspark Cabin

I’ve uploaded a number of pictures from the last couple weeks that Candy’s mom took when she was here.

On October 5, we took a family trip down to the Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch down the road a couple miles from our house. Click this image to see the gallery:

Then on October 11, we took a trip up in the mountains to Allenspark, where we rented a cabin for the weekend. Click below to see pictures of that trip:

Taken in the past couple weeks.. sorry we haven’t taken the time to post these in a more timely manner. But better late than never, right? 🙂

100,000+ Rally for Obama in Denver

October 28, 2008 - 12:09 am 3 Comments

…and I was one of them. :)  Go DENVER! The turnout was his biggest yet. 100,000+ people in once place was pretty crazy. Unfortunately, since the crowd was so big I didn’t even get to see him, but the sound system was huge, so I heard his address just fine.  The line to get into the park where he was speaking was about 2 miles long. I’d never seen anything like it before. Below are some pictures that I took of the event.

a few goings on

September 24, 2008 - 3:45 pm Comments Off on a few goings on

ok, i have a gazillion things to post about, but i will most likely forget half of them. remind me not to go so long without posting. i get all jumbled.

anyhoo….summer and fall, for us, means farmer’s market time. here is a salad i had, oh, about a MONTH ago, made with all local, farm, organic stuff, including the egg and goat cheese.

‘cookies for change’ i made not too long ago…eric took tons to work to share. super yummers, btw.

arthur getting smooched.

about a month ago arthur got his pictures taken at sears (old news, i know) and here are two pictures from then. if you have not received a wallet photo and would like one, just let us know….they’re the cutest pictures ever…baby bum pictures!!!!!

in other news, arthur is a teensy bit more independent now that he likes to sit up all the time and roll around getting into trouble. he’s THIS close to crawling, he tries really hard, flailing his legs and arms at the same time when he’s excited, it’s funny. he’s also quite the giggler…his favorites are having his toes chewed on and karate kicking dad. jabba and leia are also taking more of an interest in him….well…licking his face and feet. and he loves to watch them tousle around the house in their pug races. oh, and he thinks naps are for chumps.

almost forgot…..a few weeks ago arthur had his 6 month appointment and he was 18 pounds and 27 inches! way to grow, man!

i’ve also started to make his baby food. i use a cute book i got called ‘the petite appetit’ and it’s full of recipes for babies age 4 months to 4 years. he’s tried butternut squash, acorn squash, yams, apples, pears, and peaches. i like to get the ingredients locally, from our farmer’s market or our favorite roadside stand (which is also where i get my tasty farm eggs).

anyhoo..that’s it for now! more later!

oh! one more thing! i just wanted to encourage anybody who isn’t composting already, to try it! we only have to take out our trash every other week now (and recycling once a month) because we compost all we can, and we recycle everything ecocycle takes. very handy. 🙂

uno mas! may i direct your attention to the new link on the right entitled babble. my new fav parenting site…where else are you going to find celeb sightings of ewan mcgregor washing the family minivan or tales of how brangelina’s house is a pigsty because their kids have toothpaste wars? good stuff.

hot august afternoons

holy cow has it ever been a while since our last post! i guess we’ve been having too many good times to update sooner. 😉

my family drove out from california a few weeks ago to visit us again. well, visit arthur i should say. 😉 they stayed for a week and then headed back. and mickey came, too, of course. for pictures of mickey and jabba and leia, visit jabba’s site. 🙂 while they were here i had much more free time, so i was able to cook more and generally just get more done, or try to. arthur loved getting so much attention….who doesn’t like time with grandma? but for some reason, i hardly got any pictures while they were here. sorry!

during their visit my mom and i took arthur to sears for his first ubiquitous sears photo shoot. 🙂 when we get them back i’ll scan some and post them, they turned out really cute! and thanks to the flash, his hair is red in them! 😀

after my mom and al and mickey’s visit, things were sure quiet around here. it got a little more lively with the arrival of several items for arthur. his big boy carseat came! and it’s super cute! he totally looks like a king sitting on a cow-print throne, it’s so big! and his highchair came, too! no more messy episodes involving the couch and the bumbo chair and copious amounts of peas! (it also came with an orange cover, not pictured, which i love) i’ll post pics of arthur in both soon (the camera is charging in ‘time out’ after hiding from me).

oh! i also wanted to mention a super awesome totally cool service we signed up for! MILK DELIVERY!!! 😀 how cool is that? it’s from the longmont dairy so it’s local (almost always better than big-organic) and hormone-free! it comes every tuesday in glass bottles which the milk man puts in a cooler on our front porch. they even deliver a bottle of orange juice for eric. 🙂 and it’s about the same price of buying it in the store, but i’m supporting a local business, the milk is totally fresh, there’s less carbon spent in getting it to me, and it’s so cute!

and let me make a quick side-note….i’m currently reading ‘the omnivore’s dilemma‘ and let-me-tell-you….YOU HAVE TO READ IT! i’m serious. it will rock your world. i’ll post more about it later. 😀

now time for pictures!

here’s arthur in the most adorable outfit his great grandma nereida brought him from puerto rico…a mini guayabera!

this last saturday eric’s work had a picnic in a park next to their office. we arrived a little early so we chilled in the office, playing ping pong. and it was the perfect opportunity to take a picture of arthur ‘helping’ eric at his desk.

this morning i took a few pictures of arthur outside…i wish i had put him in the sun..they’re a little dark, but he’s still cute!

the supermodel demanding more cuddles

is that a sexy retro space girl on his shirt? why yes it is!

he can sit like this for about a minute at a time now! 😀

side note: aren’t his new babylegs legwarmers the absolute cutest thing EVER?! i NEED MORE! they’re perfect with onsesies, which is what he wears most of the time.

and we want to give a HUGE congratulations to eric’s cousin, ryan, and his wife kristine! they just had a super adorable baby boy! 😀 more cousins for arthur!!!!! hip hip hooray!

chow baby

arthur is now a card-holding member of the big boys club! 😀 yesterday he had his first taste of rice cereal! this is big news people!

this one speaks for itself…hehe

he didn’t quite know what to make of it the first time around, but today when i offered him some more, he managed to tuck some away. well, at least i think so. i know i fed him more than what ended up on his bib. 🙂 here he is, a happy camper after big boy meal number two.

he’s also becoming a chewer, well, gummer, since he’s teething/preteething.

anyhoo…the weather here has officially reached ‘oven’ temperatures. it’s hot. really hot. we barely made it through the farmer’s market. this morning i started my day at 6 am by mowing the lawn, trying to beat the heat. the poor pups missed their pug meetup, too, but not because of us! there’s no way leia would have had any fun…she’s more sensitive to the temps than jabba is.

the little fellow is yelling for a frozen binky so i better do what he’s telling me or he might pee on me later.
