Well, this week passed by without too many exiciting goings on. It was basically just a regular work week, and thus no updates on the blog. The weather here has started to become very nice-50s and 60s and sunny with a hint of windiness. Since it’s so nice out today, we might take Jabba to the park for a walk. The Tribeca Film Festival started this week and goes till next Sunday, I think. Hopefully we’ll get to attend at least one show. Also noteworthy this week was that construction just started for the new Freedom Tower at the World Trade Center site (which we heard about, but didn’t get to see.) That’s all the updates for today.. we’ll see if anything more exciting happens tomorrow. 😉
A Beautiful Sunny Weekend
2006 NY Int’l Auto Show
Today I went to the 2006 NY International Auto Show. What can I say? It was fun. I got there at about 12:30pm and stayed until about 4pm–not a lot of time, but I kept myself busy and I was pretty tired of standing and walking around by the time I had to leave. It was held at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center on 11th Ave in Manhattan. Unfortunately, it was extremely rainy today so I decided not to take our nice camera, and instead opted to take the cheaper one–the pictures came out OK, but unfortunately the thing can only hold 50 pictures at a time, so I ran out by the end. A picture tells a thousand words, so if you want to see some of the Cars I gandered at today, wander over to the illustrious Gallery: here. (All of the pictures were taken without a flash, so that tells you how good the lighting was in there.)
taste of rain…
aww shucks! we have been looking forward to our second ‘taste of chinatown’, but it rained today! but could we bring ourselves to say no to cheap, tasty food, even in the rain? NO! 😀
our tasty, and vegetarian food…curry noodles (yum), veggie meat (SUPER yum!), and egg roll.
i also had a bubble milk tea, which i loved! and no trip to chinatown would be complete without some yummies from fay da bakery!
i also couldn’t resist getting jabba this *so cute* shirt…he’s such a little stud!

two cute boys…
workin’ late, makin’ bucks.
After my regularly-schedule j0b, for the past 2 days I’ve been going over to a co-workers house to help him set up his home theatre, so I haven’t been getting home until 11pm or so. 😐 Unfortunately for me, the subway trains run extremely slowly at that hour of the day, so it ends up taking me over a half-hour longer than usual to get home. Today, I decided to take a cab at least part way back–it costs more, but it would take a lot less time to get to where I needed to be. I hailed a cab on 1st ave in Manhattan. Unforuntately, I had forgotten that I only had $4 cash in my pocket, so as soon as I realized this, I notified the cab driver. Luckily for me, he was a very nice guy–he drove me to 42nd st (from 20th st) for four bucks, and told me “it’s okay man, maybe next time.” So, here’s to generous cab drivers and everyone else out there willing to give the odd guy a break once in a while. And Happy Birthday wishes to Jakkie! 🙂
evidence of the existence of visitors…
we have proof! pictures! hard evidence that visitors did, in fact, visit our humble little apartment here in stinky astoria. 😀 (i also have a forgotten christmas sock belonging to jakki, would you like it returned? in the mail?)
without further ado….
thank you for visiting us, it was quite fun. and a happy early birthday to jakki, too 🙂
Easter Weekend
Jakki and Kit have been here since Thursday. They were troopers when they got here and went out on the town with Candice after their red-eye flight and the little sleep that accompanied it. I’m sure when they get back to Sacramento, you can read more about their adventures on The Jakkit. Also, Candice is going to post some pictures here soon of some of the things we did with them. Stay tuned…
Put on your Jakkit
…’cause Jakki and Kit are going to be here tomorrow! 🙂 They get to experience the joys of red-eye, cross-country air travel just like Candice and I did last week. Godspeed travelers. We await your arrival on the morrow.
Trogdor!
I found this little flash game on HomeStarRunner.com called Trogdor! If you’ve never checked out Homestar Runner before… uh.. you should, have. yeah.
Here’s the game: http://www.homestarrunner.com/trogdor.html. It’s looks kinda lame, but it’s addictingly fun!
