bare walls

soooo……you know what i don’t like? bare walls, unless, of course, they have a thing going, but our don’t. they have a naked look about them. i’ve been looking on allposters.com for something to put on them, once i find a job, that is. this one is called ‘vive l’amour’ by some guy i’ve never heard of. i thought it would go nicely in the entryway. this one is called ‘vampire’ by edvard munch. i like the dark crayon-like black in it. this is probably the one i am least likely to buy. no particular reason, but it doesn’t strike me as much as the others. this one is called ‘neuschwanstein’ by andy warhol, obviously. i’m not a huge fan of warhol, but, for some reason, i really like this one. it reminds me of some flashy scene in a 70’s movie mixed with the opening sequence in ‘the shinning.’ this one is ‘reclining nude’ by amedeo modigliani. i never thought i would actually want to buy a nude painting. i admire them in museums and books, but i never thought i’d buy one. for some reason i think this one is so great, with the well-defined lines and use of color. this one is ‘kunstler and his wife’ by marc chagall. i love the heaviness of this one, with the dark, swirly, misty stuff goin’ on. this last one i totally love. it’s called ‘les amants’ by rene magritte. don’t ask me, i just love it.

yup…those are the ‘for sure’ pictures i’m going to hang. they all strike enough of a cord with me that i would like to look at them every day.

on another note, i’m back on raw, after the weekend! i missed it too much to stay away. cooked food kept making me feel gross. i never feel gross when i eat raw. yesterday i made raw apple cobbler and raw key lime pie. yum! 🙂

switching subjects again…i can’t believe i’m actually going to apply at barnes & noble. i’ve always sorta been wary of them. maybe it’s the starbucks. maybe it’s the hugeness. -shrug- i dunno. but *i need a job!* 😉

rats.

Maybe we should have moved to New Jersey or something… unfortunately, the people who seem to think my skills are a match for their company are too far away for me to get to. This latest one today is in Wall, NJ. And as you can see from this Map here, it is a tad out of the way.. about 70 miles or so. double rats.

I found this web site a while ago, and now I can actually use it since I moved to a big city. You sign up for it and enter in the names and addresses of places that you go or hang out at. When you arrive or are going to a certain place, you send them a short text message, and then they automatically send a text message to all your friends (who are signed up) telling them to meet you there at a certain time. Check it out: dodgeball.com

uneventful. well, sort of.

Not having a job is really getting old. I had a telephone interview today and I had another guy call me and request a copy of my resume. The rest of the day I spent hitting craigslist for new leads. Pretty boring, really. Candice and I are slowly putting this place together though. Hopefully, the rest of our stuff will arrive this week and we can eventually stop living out of boxes. And, maybe, just maybe, we might even post some more pictures of the progress soon. Stay Tuned..

Has anybody been to this web site.? Kinda interesting–every day they have one ‘overstock’ item that they sell for (most of the time) waaayy below retail. You really never know what they’ll have next. Check ’em out: woot.com

back.

Well. I’m back, safe and sound in NYC. I missed Candice very much and I’m glad to be back to our new place with my wife and puppy. I hope Kit and Jakki are having a nice time on their trip to the Mediterranean. Who knows.. they might even update their blog while their away.

as i write this eric is currently at 34,000 feet somewhere over the midwest, on his way to ca to be in kit and jakki’s wedding and have loads of fun. i, on the other hand, am stuck at home watching a movie on my laptop and ruining my diet with chinese takeout. -sigh- no effing comment. i even tried to look for cheap, last-minute fares today and yesterday, but those dumb effers only raised their prices. like i can afford $500 now when i couldn’t afford $350 2 months ago. stupid effing capitalism with its class distinction and the have and the have-nots. kiss my arse. where’s communism when you need it? at least then *nobody* could afford $500 tickets. food tickets and arm bands for everybody! getting married? here! have a book of poetry written by our benevolent mao! -sigh- no comment, indeed…

🙂

good food. goodnight.

Today we met for lunch with the head honcho of AMM (the non-profit org. that we’re going to be doing some volunteer work with pretty soon.) His name is Rod and he works for Citibank. He took Matt, Candice, and I to this really nice chinese place in Manhattan called China Grill. Luckily for us they had a good selection of vegetarian foods available. It was nice to have a break from the mediocre food we’ve been eating lately. The rest of the day was spent by me studying for my Network+ test and submitting resumes to various places. Tomorrow I’m off back to California (only the southern part this time) to get ready for Kit & Jakki’s wedding.

our sweet little doggy has just peed all over our comfortor and sleeping bags! we were wrassling with him with the blankets and tussling around when i started to notice a vague smell of what i thought was pasta. after the ruckus died down we noticed little wet marks strewn around the top of the bed. and a large wet mark directly under my knee and on a sleeping bag! aparently jabba got so excited that he couldn’t control himself. poor little puppy. thankfully it was just spots, so it didn’t affect our sheets. well, guess we’ll be making a trip to the laundry as soon as possible.

on another note, we got to go out to eat for lunch today! 🙂 it’s the first time we’ve been out since we got here. i was bad and broke my raw food diet, but just for lunch. SO yummy!

we also took the bus today to save some walking home. it was nice! we’ll be taking it more often now. we just pay using out metro cards, like the subway.

on another note, there’s this really good book i’ve been wanting to read really badly. has anyone read it?
