okay….i admit it….i couldn’t control myself last night….before i knew it i found myself on the subway on the way to a bookstore. as soon as i got back i found myself in bed curled up with one of my most beloved literary characters….harry! omg….i’ve been with harry all day today, too 😉 the book is so good! now that i’m over halfway through it i’m starting to get that feeling of panic that occures when i can see the end of a harry potter novel. the writting is so good! i just can’t stop reading! 😉 when i walk away i can hear harry calling me back…then i start to hear hermione, ron, dumbledore, and snape…they’re telling me of all the exciting adventures they’ve had lately….
gosh…i really need to finish the book, huh?
on another note…we should get our apartment soon! yeah!

thanks Chris!

Well.. it looks like we’re finally going to get our stuff from California now that we have our own place. Chris Robinson works for FedEx and is helping out out with shipping all the stuff we’ve accumulated over the years in CA. I can’t wait until we get settled in our new place, have jobs, and have our puppy back.

other things

I was informed by Candice that I should probably put other things besides just complaining about the weather in my blog postings, so I will attempt to do that here… but first let me complain some more about the weather. And trust me, it is not without justification. First of all, if you watched David Letterman not too long ago, you would have seen even he was complaining about the weather. Second of all, because the weather is so miserable here and there’s almost a need to run air-conditioning 24/7, today was a record energy use day for New York City.

Hmm… now that that is done. What else should I talk about? Well, I had my interview this morning. I think it went pretty well. It was my first one here in NY so far. I have a phone interview with the same company next, then if that goes well I have another interview back in Manhattan. When I have time, I think I’m going to try to get some more IT certifications, such as Network+, Security+, some MCP tests, etc. I know I can pass most of them with my current knowledge, but I’ve never gotten around to looking at test centers and really looking in to taking the tests. I think that will definitely make my resume a better sell to some of these companies.

We talked with our landlord again today. He said the paint is done, the new wood floors were being put in today and tomorrow, and he should have the keys to us within 2-3 days, so here’s hoping to be partly settled in at least by this weekend. Then we’ll have our puppy back and more pictures, I promise.

monday, again…

yes, it’s monday again and we are still homeless 🙂 we dashed over to see the progress on the apartment today. the paint was fabulous! SO much better than white. the new dishwasher was sitting in the bedroom in the box so we know it’s brand new. 🙂 all that’s left is the dishwasher, floors, and we’re ready to move in! besides some lighting fixtures. the paint is such an improvement! i won’t mention the colors in case people think it looks better than it actually is and then see a pic of it and go “oooohhh” knowingly to themselves.
we went to macy’s today to get eric some dress shoes since his are still in cali. also picked up a tie. they didn’t have the shoes i wanted, though….grrr….my feet have been KILLING me! i have to wear a different pair of shoes every day, working through the ones i have with me, to take turns which blister will get rubbed. there’s a pair of birkenstocks i want so bad and that are on sale, just like my red ones, but black, but i don’t think i should get them right now. 🙁
the weather here has been pretty warm. warm being the key word. i can’t really say it’s been *hot* because with the humidity it just always feels like you’re playing under a big blanket. for me it’s as bad as the disgusting weather in sac. i don’t like either one. at least here it gets properly cold. give me -20 in january any day of the week!
well, i’m off to bed!

laundry/garbage day

July 18, 2005 - 9:40 pm 2 Comments

You can always tell when it’s garbage day in new york city–besides the heaping piles and bags of garbage on the sidewalks, it also stinks like sewage when you walk down certain areas. lovely. at least now that we did our laundry though, our clothes don’t smell bad.

This weather here is killing me. I mean it wouldn’t be that bad if we had a car with air conditioning, but when you have to walk everywhere and take the train (thank God the subway cars are air-conditioned.) it really takes a toll on you. The underground stations are kept a nice 90-something degrees, with no air-flow at all–just stale, hot air. Even with the trains kept cool, the time between trains & between stops, and the long walks around town get ya good–you’re guaranteed to be drenched in sweat by the end of the day. And it doesn’t cool down at night. Give me the dry, 100 degree California weather any day over this. Maybe Candice and I should have come out to visit before in the dead of summer instead of springtime. 😉

I’ve got to get to bed early tonight so I can get to my interview in time tomorrow morning in Manhattan. It’s with a company called NIT Connect. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow…

apartment/jobs

Well, I have an interview lined up for tomorrow morning at 9am in Manhattan, so wish me luck. We also talked to our landlord about how the repairs were going and he said they had started painting and the floors were also being worked on, so once those are done we’ll be able to move in and get some pictures up. 🙂

summer rain

:::singing::: Ohh…. the weather outside is frightful. The 97% humidity is not delightful. And since there is no air flow, we’ll flambeau in our little borough.

As you can see I added a little weather icon thingie on the right sidebar so you can see what the weather is like over here.
