Since we’re still new to word press, we’re still working out some of its features.

EDIT: Apparently, it does… Now that I have the permissions set up properly for uploading pictures in wordpress, we can embed pictures right into the main page.. yaaah!
we left cowboy country today (wy) and are now in north platte nebraska. maybe we’ll see buffalo bill’s tourist trap tomorrow if we have time. it’s pretty in nebraska, too. kinda like alberta pretty. we ordered chinese takeout tonight and it was a very welcome break from road food.
oh, i forgot to mention all the insectoids we ran over in nevada the other day. there were thousands of the little buggers! they looked like giant scorpions or teranchelas and were really really gross to drive over. the day after that our car stank of raw, freshly caught fish. it was so gross…you couldn’t stand down wind from it without cringing. little embarassing at gas stations, too. i hope the rental car company won’t charge us extra to clean the carcases from the underside. -shudder-
there’s supposed to be lightening storms tonight, so it should be pretty.

okay…i just read eric’s post and he failed to mention what a trash heap our stop at The Great Salt Lake was. It smelled like death and dysentary. Dead birds littered the beach. And let me tell you….if it were in California, it would be *shut down*…anyhoo….
there’s alot of trucks in wy and ut. also alot of country music in stores and casinos. -shudder-
salt lake city was really pretty, surprisingly. wy is also pretty, at least i think so. i was sure glad to leave nevada though. geez. thought i might get shot with all those unregistered concealed weapons floating around… 😉
i am in desperate need of my ‘doubleshot’ right now so i’m going to go make breakfast at our cabin (which is really cute, btw).

i know this is ghetto, and a lot of people wont be able to figure it out, but i’m sorry.. i’m tired and my fingers are about to fall off. :::shiver:::
Well, it’s about 50 degrees or so out here at the campground and me without a sweatshirt. whoops. So I hope somebody is actually reading this, ’cause it’s gonna cost me my fingers and toes! Unfortunately, at the KOA we’re at, the internet does not reach to our little cabin, so I have to sit outside the laundry room near the main building to get any wireless signal. We had a 400 mile haul today from Elko, NV to Rock Springs, WY. We stopped by the Great Salt Lake. If you ever come to Utah, don’t bother. It was very stinky and not very exciting. I’d better get to bed soon as tomorrow is our longest drive. 480 miles from Rock Springs, WY to Des Moines, IA. Fortunately, we have a better hotel to look foward to than the Motel 6 yesterday. The cabin at this KOA is pretty cosy, too though. Good Night all. Unfortunately, the Motel 6 in Elko, NV that we stayed at Sunday Night didn’t have any internet and I couldn’t think of any crafty ways of even getting dial-up internet. My cell phone can be used as a modem, but I don’t think there are drivers for Linux or Mac OS X. I thought of calling SBC dial-up but there aren’t any local numbers and I forgot my calling card for the long-distance numbers. Apparently there is a Starbucks in a local hotel that has two computers that can be used for internet for free. Luckily, we’re only staying at one more Motel 6 on this trip. The Super 8’s and even the KOA campgrounds we’re staying at have wireless internet access, so we can get some more pictures and stuff posted. That’s all for now…..

We did miss one chance for internet access earlier today at the Starbucks in the Red Lion Inn in Elko, NV. Currently, I’m writing from a KOA Kampsite in Rock Springs, WY. It is sooo remote out here. There’s not even any gsm cell service at all. But, get this, they have high-speed wireless internet, so all is not lost. I’m going to try to get some pictures up on the web site soon and have some more information about our trip, but complaining about not having internet all day takes priority.
It’s 12:30pm on Sunday right now. We stopped by the airport and got our rental car. It’s a White 2005 Chevy Malibu hatchback. It only has 1250 miles on it and we’re going to triple that almost! Our first stop is in Fernley, NV to see Tiffany (cousin) and her new baby, then we’re staying the night in Elko, NV. Pictures to come soon….
Well.. This was pretty easy to set up. Thanks to my brother Marc for getting ericperez.com for me and to James for suggesting WordPress for blogging. It’s almost 1am and I have to get up early tomorrow and pack for our big adventure. We pick up our rental car at 10:30am from the Sacramento Intl. Airport and are on our way to New York City from there!
