Spring Tease

March 10, 2006 - 2:07 pm 2 Comments

Wow! Wow wow wow wow wow. It’s such a nice today here today. According to weather reports, it is now a warm, slightly-overcast 72 degree day in New York city. It was like a new awakening–as if the entire city had been hybernating and today, everything and everyone broke out of their respective cocoons just today. All of a sudden, there were about 5 times as many people on the street, dozens of people walking their dogs, couples walking hand-in-hand in the park by my work. (I decided to grab a sandwich and eat my lunch there today, along with a hundred-something other people.) Today was the first day in months that you could actually go outside without a coat and not freeze. I definitely wish it would stay like this for a couple months at least. Summers are so balmy, so hot–it’s miserable. Forget Autumn in New York, Spring’s where it’s at!

Morning Commute…

The weather here has been wonderful lately, so I decided to take some pictures during my walk to the subway station… OK, so don’t expect anything too spectacular, but withour further ado, I present pictures of (our small part of) Astoria (clink on the thumbnail to go to the album):

Astoria Houses

I just remembered that I also took some pictures walking to work in Manhattan–two strange things happened, though; somebody hit a payphone with their car, and there was a fire in the middle of the street!

another lazy weekend..

Well, not much too exciting has happened lately… We’re still slowly enhancing our web site, and working on Jabba’s new blog too.

Candice and I just finished watching the first season of ‘Lost’ (over the past 2 weeks, mind you; not just this weekend.) We’re addicted–that’s all I can say. Is it me, (only a few of you out there might actually what I’m talking about) or does John Locke bear a stricking resemblance to Mr. Kindrick? 😀
There seems to be a lot of good TV shows on recently.. I remember not too long ago (a couple years, maybe) everything on the tube was complete crap, but I think things took a good turnaround for the industry. Keep it coming, guys! Like I need more reasons to sit on my butt and stare at the wall, though…

criss angel

two words…..frackin’ freezing.

it was unimaginably, bone-achingly cold today when i stood outside in duffy square for an hour and a half to see criss angel perform…mind you it was worth it, though. very entertaining.

i got there a half hour before it was supposed to start so i didn’t have the BEST place to stand, but not as bad as people standing on the other side of the street. if i had gotten there like 15 minutes earlier i would have gotten in the vip section…darn it!

he was late in getting started, so people were getting antsy. once he came out, it got rowdy…hehe…lots of women and girls screaming “we love you chris”, and “take it off!” here’s what he did:

he was locked in a crate, with his hands handcuffed outside and was raised into the air. he had 2 minutes to get himself out of the crate before it was dropped and smashed. unsurprisingly he made it. the crate crashed and he hopped up on top of the heineken truck with a celebratory cold one (obviously his sponsor, hence the ‘light beer’ sign on the crate…hehe). i have no idea how he got to the gound, since he wasn’t in the crate..i think that was the whole point, though. i’ll have to see it on tv. then i waited for another half hour for him to come around to my section of the crowd to sign autographs and tell us how much he loved us and appreciated our attendence, given the freezing winds. the ladies i was standing next to were very much in the midst of swooning and i have to admit i gave an excited jump and screech myself..he’s quite a cutie. i overheard the obsesive females next to me talking about how his mom and his gf? wife? never miss a performance and they were pointing them out.

anyhoo..it was fun and i’m glad i went! 🙂 thanks kit for letting me know about it! i wish we got A&E so we could watch the tv series!

fresh direct…

i just have to say something about this super cool site i’ve started using lately. it’s called fresh direct and it basically makes it so i can go grocery shopping online, and then choose the time that i want it delivered. yesterday was the second time i’ve used it, and so far it’s been great (except for delivering it too early, but oh well :)) the prices are fair and now i don’t have to lug around the granny basket!

here’s jabba helping eric unload the boxes yesterday (i was at work):

well, it took us until almost 2 in the morning, but we finally got our new theme pretty much all set up. there will of course be a few little tweaks here and there in the coming days, but for the most part it’s set up how we want it. hope you like it.

goodnight

well well well…we’ve finally gotten around to changing the look of our page. or i should say i finally got around to picking out a template, modifying the template, and making a main banner-thing, all the while pestering eric to upload everything ’cause i’m too lazy to put the ftp client on my computer. 🙂 thanks eric 🙂

so yeah..i like it better than the plain stuff we had before. when i’m done with jabba’s site, i’ll let ya know 🙂 hopefully this weekend….

anyhoo…we watched ‘star trek: generations’ tonight and then ‘battlestar galactica’ and i’m tired….goodnight!

oops, some stuff on the site doesn’t work yet..sorry! eric doesn’t like it so expect things to change a bit…
