A slow week for blogging..

February 24, 2006 - 10:35 pm 2 Comments

Well, I guess we’ve kinda been busy, kinda lazy, and kinda sitting around with a couple tricks up our sleeves’. Candice and I have been working on some projects ala blog/website lately, but most of the things we’ve been working on are behind the scenes so the changes aren’t too apparent (yet.) In other news, things are going pretty well for us. We never did plan on staying in New York forever, so I was happy to hear my manager say it would be fine if we moved to Boulder, CO eventually and I worked from our office over there. Candice and I just finished watching Star Trek: Generations and eating Papa John’s pizza. Have a great weekend everybody!

Upgrades in progress…

You may notice some strange things going on in the next couple of days as I try to iron out all the wrinkles associated with migrating wordpress and the rest of our entire site to our new servers. Right now the wordpress database and all the html/graphics have been migrated and it’s been mostly successful. Now all I have to do basically is upgrade to WordPress 2.0. I’ve diasabled a number of plug-ins, and you might notice some things disappear or break completely as a side effect of the move. I’m trying to fix everything as soon as I can. Stay tuned…

UPDATE: I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.0.1, which is pretty slick. Most everything seems to be working now.

UPDATE 2: theme change coming soon.. You might notice the look of our site change a couple times in the next couple days–stay tuned.

homemade pizza with *real* (not canned) sauce and fresh mozzerella and basil…mmmmm! the dough came out kinda thick ’cause i couldn’t roll it out very flat, my baking sheet was too small. i need to work on my yeasted doughs more…they never ‘double in size’…::shrug:: still good though. brought to you by ‘the martha stewart baking handbook’!

oooohhhh yeah……red velvet cake. the photo is crummy, it’s actually dark red, but it tastes divine! the recipe is crazy, there’s a big mystery as to its origins, southern or from the waldorf-astoria hotel….all i know is it’s very tasty. i will definately make this again. mmmmm…i love paula dean’s recipes (foodnetwork).

(anybody remember that scene from ‘steel magnolias’? i considered doing a variation on the armadillo…..)

What a beautiful day in the city…

…I wish I had taken some pictures. 3 days after the biggest blizzard here since record-keeping started in 1869, it’s sunny and hit a high of over 50 degrees here. The snow is visibly melting–it’s practically raining from all the snow melting off the tops of the buildings onto the sidewalks below. 4-foot tall piles of collected snow still dot the metropolitan landscape though. Right after the storm, it was almost like being in a giant ant farm. The entire ground was covered in up to 27 inches of fresh powder–everything was completely covered in white. But then trails started being carved out. Plows would come through, shovels would clear out the sidewalks, millions of feet would stomp it down or slush right through it. But it’s all melting now; I guess that means I have to turn off the snowflakes plugin. drat.

we love you!

‘Gallery’ all set up! More snow pics…

February 12, 2006 - 11:21 pm 2 Comments

I got Gallery all set up on our new web host, so we now have a decent image gallery authoring tool to share our pics. Check out our first gallery–what else besides more blizzard pics? Enjoy!

During the storm.
After the storm.

Apparently, this was the ‘storm of the century (or two)’–it didn’t really seem that bad though: BBC Article

Now all I need is to install a WordPress plugin to integrate our blog with it….
